Nonlinear analysis and applied math reading group

The first goal of this reading course will be to understand the mathematical framework that arises in analyzing some relativistic Chern-Simons models with multiple gauge fields interacting with several Higgs fields. With this aim, a paper of relevance that will be studied is: C. Kim, C. Lee, P. Ko, B-H. Lee, H. Min, Schrodinger fields on the plane with $[U(1)]^N$ Chern-Simons interactions and generalized self-dual solitons (1993).

On Tuesday, February 2nd we will introduce the variational principles that are used to derive the system of PDE arising in such models.

If you wish to participate, please contact marcello.lucia@gmail.com.

Organized by Marcello Lucia (Mathematics and Physics, College of Staten Island and The Graduate Center, CUNY), the nonlinear analysis and applied mathematics reading course will meet online this spring semester, every Tuesday at 5:00 - 6:30 PM ET.

Stay tuned for details about an upcoming meeting, which will be posted on the ITS calendar and shared on the weekly mailing list.
