Locality and Symmetry through the lens of Quantum Information
Iman Marvian, Duke University

The new ideas and techniques developed in the field of Quantum information have also found various applications in other areas of Physics. In this talk, I explain some applications of these ideas for understanding the implications of locality and symmetry of Quantum systems. Specifically, I will talk about a recent result in the framework of Quantum circuits and explain its consequences in the context of Quantum Thermodynamics. I will also briefly talk about the resource-theoretic approach to quantifying symmetry-breaking (asymmetry) and its applications.
