DEADLINE EXTENDED: Applications for 2022 Physics of Life - CPBF Summer School (June 6-17)

Physics of Life - CPBF Summer School
June 6-17, 2022

The Center for the Physics of Biological Function, a joint effort of The Graduate Center, CUNY and Princeton University, is accepting summer school applications from advanced undergraduates interested in biological physics. The school is an intense two weeks of lectures, seminars, and hands-on exercises on Princeton campus with two main goals for student participants:

  1. To build an understanding of how physics problems emerge from thinking about developing embryos, communicating bacteria, dynamic neural networks, animal behaviors, evolution, and more.

  2. To learn how ideas and methods from statistical physics, simulation, data analysis, and imaging connect to diverse biological phenomena.

Eligibility – The summer school is geared toward third and fourth undergraduate students outside Princeton University with a strong background in physics, biophysics, and biological sciences. Underrepresented minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply. US citizenship or permanent residency is not required.

Deadline: Applications and recommendation letters are due by the new deadline: Friday, Mar 25, 2022.

Tuition — The school is tuition-free; meals and housing on Princeton campus will also be provided. Please note that student travel costs are not included in the tuition.

Apply online – Please visit the Physics of Life summer school brochure page to apply. The application entails a student questionnaire, statement of purpose, undergraduate course transcript, and the contact information for one academic recommendation letter writer. Recommendation letters are to be submitted separately by the referee, and they must be received by the application deadline (Mar 18).
